A Tough Day

I preached my most difficult sermon ever at Butler Church of Christ this morning - my last. After ten incredible years, our family is answering God's call to move to Lansing, Michigan.

The church held a potluck today in our honor. It was really great as so many BCC'ers offered kind words. There were many tears. We shared lots of hugs and handshakes.

I'm really going to miss Butler Church of Christ. The faithful here have worked their way into my heart. As I prayed this morning, I leave with a "Butler Church of Christ shaped hole in my heart."

While that void will eventually be filled, only BCC is the perfect fit.
I am excited to move on to what God has planned for us at South Lansing Christian Church. Nevertheless, I leave with bittersweet feelings. While leaving is hard, I know that God has greater things planned for both me and for BCC. I can't wait to see what they are.

I felt it was truly one of your best sermons. It came straight from the heart and we all knew how painful it was for yout o say goodbye.

You've been a great friend Frank. I would expect that while some things change, as you said, that never will.

We love you.

While we are so excited about your family's move to Lansing, we also share the pain of the Butler church family as you say goodbye to them. We've been there and are praying that God blesses them with that special minister, just as he is blessing us at South. Can't wait to get you all here.

I know that I see your move to South as evidence of God’s faithfulness and believe that same faithfulness will carry the Butler Church of Christ through this period of change.

At South, we are excited to have you and your family joins us and eagerly anticipate the changes God has in store for all. Even though the moving doesn’t start until tomorrow, let me welcome you to your new home! Let me also reassure you that although you are leaving many friends behind, you will find many more waiting to “show up” and fill the empty spaces.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. We will miss Butler, but we're incredibly excited to move to South. Good things await both BCC and SLCC. Frankly, I can't wait to see God at work!
